Silver Spoon or Gin No Saji is a manga series from Japan written and drawn by Hiromu Arakawa. It’s a coming-of-age story influenced by Arakawa’s own life growing up on a dairy farm in Hokkaido. The manga began in Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine on April 6, 2011, and quickly became popular. It ended on November 27, 2019, with 15 volumes released between July 15, 2011, and February 18, 2020.

In English, the manga is published by Shogakukan Asia in Singapore and by Yen Press in North America. Yen Press started releasing the volumes in February 2018 and finished in September 2020.

There’s also an anime adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures. It aired for two seasons from July to September 2013 and January to March 2014 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block. A live-action film based on the manga was released in March 2014 by Toho. As of February 2020, Silver Spoon had sold over 17 million copies. It won several awards, including the Manga Taishō in 2012 and the 58th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2013.
